Vermont Electric Cooperative (VEC) is Vermont’s largest member-owned electric cooperative with 32,000 members in 75 towns across northern Vermont. Our Member Discount Program lets you take advantage of our visibility in the community to help bring people to your door.

Here’s how it works:

  • You offer a discount to VEC members on products or services of your choosing.
  • VEC promotes these discounts to our members via our established, active communications network.

As a business partner, you get:

  • Presence on our website (vermontelectric.coop) describing your business and discount, which includes:
    • Business and discount descriptions
    • Logo
    • Contact information, including link to your business web site
  • Program exposure in our quarterly newsletter Co-op Life during 2018 (mailed directly to our 32,000 members)
  • Program promotion through one member bill insert per year (mailed directly to our 32,000 members)
  • Program promotion on VEC social media (Facebook – currently 2,600 followers)
  • Business/discount highlighted at VEC’s spring annual meeting (recent attendance has been about 200)

What you offer for discounts is up to you. We suggest offering meaningful but manageable discounts or deals. For verification of member status, you can operate on the honor system, ask members to show a copy of their electric bill, or give you their account number.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the VEC Member Discount Program work?

The program is a partnership between VEC and businesses/organizations in the area. Businesses offer discounts on products and services, and these discounts are then marketed by VEC directly to VEC members.

What is the objective of the program?

The goals of the program are to promote local businesses and bring additional value to VEC members. The program also builds community connections between VEC members and local businesses/organizations.

As a business owner, why should I participate?

By participating, you are boosting the visibility of your business and potentially drawing more customers. The outreach and marketing of your business, pegged to the discount you offer, is done by VEC, a widely recognized organization with a strong reputation in the region.

What is involved in participating?

Just supply VEC with contact information, a short description of your business, the discount and a logo we can post on the program’s web page, and we’ll do the rest. You can participate for as long as you wish and discontinue at any time.*
