Vermont Electric Cooperative Announces Jake Brown joining Community Relations Team

Johnson, VT- Vermont Electric Cooperative (VEC) announced today that Jake Brown will be joining the VEC Member Services and Community Relations team as an Energy Services Planner, leading a variety of communications, outreach, and member service initiatives.“I am very excited that Jake will be joining us and I know he will be a fabulous addition to the great team here at VEC,” said Andrea Cohen, Manager of Member Relations.

“He will bring skills and talent to help us meet our objectives of enhanced member services and sustainable energy projects and policies. He is an accomplished communications professional with significant experience in the environmental and energy sectors.”

Brown has been serving as U.S. Communications Associate with Regulatory Assistance Project (RAP), a nonprofit team of expert advisors that assists public utility commissions, utilities, and NGOs on power sector regulatory policy. He joins VEC in mid-October.

“I am pleased to be joining the VEC team and look forward to ensuring that the member-owned cooperative continues to provide the best possible value and service to VEC members,” Brown said. He noted that he was looking forward to supporting VEC’s strong track record of using innovation and technology to advance initiatives like Co-op Community Solar, SmartHub, and innovative Energy Transformation projects.

Nationally recognized for innovative and advanced use of technology, VEC is the largest locally-owned electric distribution utility in Vermont, serving more than 32,000 Co-op members located in 74 towns.

Brown, who began his career in journalism, served for nine years as communications director at the Vermont Natural Resources Council before moving to RAP in 2015. He has been a Rotarian for 10 years and has twice been elected to the Montpelier Cemetery Commission. He lives in Montpelier with his wife and son.
