Vermont Electric Cooperative has recently implemented a voluntary renewable energy pricing program called the VEC Green Team. This program provides VEC members with a convenient option to make fixed monthly contributions when paying their electric bill(s) each month to support local renewable energy projects in VEC’s service territory. The program supports VEC’s goal to promote renewable energy generation. How the VEC Green Team works Residential:
Non-Demand Commercial:
Demand Commercial:
Industrial:
The Fancy Level contribution reflects the incremental cost that an average consumer would pay on their electric bill if their entire supply of electricity was generated by renewable power resources. VEC Green Team members wishing to make smaller donations may choose the Grade A level or the Grade B level which are calculated at fifty and twenty five percent of the Fancy level, respectively. Members may choose to withdraw from the program at any time. However, industrial members may be asked to commit to continuing their contributions for a minimum period of at least one year. What does VEC do with Green Team funds? Administered by the Vermont Public Service Department’s Clean Energy Development Fund, the Small Scale Renewable Energy Incentive Program promotes development and deployment of cost effective and environmentally sustainable electric power resources for the long-term benefit of Vermonters. This very popular program provides rebates to individuals, businesses, farms, municipalities and multi-family low income housing projects for grid connected and net metered solar electric and small wind systems, solar hot water, and small-scale hydropower systems. Contributions made by VEC Green Team members to the Vermont Small Scale Renewable Energy Incentive Program will be designated for renewable projects within VEC’s service territory. Who is eligible to join the VEC Green Team? How can a member sign up?
