One of the many benefits of being a member of Vermont Electric Cooperative is that you are a member owner. One of the ways your ownership is reflected is through Patronage Capital.

In 2011, VEC began reporting Patronage Capital allocations on your monthly bill(s). This includes the amount of Patronage Capital allocated to you for 2010 and the accumulated balance you have accrued to date. The information will be updated each year in September.

What is Patronage Capital?
Every month, you are billed for electric service and we pay the expense to provide that service. Patronage Capital is your share of what's left over at the end of the year after we pay our operating expenses.
