VEC Seeks 1.88 Percent Increase in Rates |
Published 11/13/2009 Johnson, VT - Vermont Electric Cooperative, Inc. (VEC) today asked the Vermont Public Service Board to authorize a 1.88 percent rate increase to go into effect January 1, 2010.
“VEC recognizes that these are challenging economic times for our members and that any increase will be difficult,” said Dave Hallquist, CEO. “We have worked hard to minimize this rate increase by aggressively eliminating or delaying expenses throughout our operating budget. Reductions include a pay freeze for all employees and adjustments to benefits. With these reductions, we have avoided a rate request that would have been nearly double the amount we are currently asking for,” added Hallquist.
If approved, the monthly bill for an average residential member using 600 kilowatts would increase by $2.04, from $108.49 to $110.53.
