| VEC outage restoration continues on Sunday |

Published 12.05.2010 5:30 am. Johnson, VT- At 5:30 a.m. approximately 730 Vermont Electric Cooperative (VEC) members remain without power in the wake of Wednesday’s wind storm. On the fifth day of this unprecedented outage more than 300 utility personnel have been working to remove trees, replace heavily damage utility poles and repair downed lines. Over 500 of the 730 members without power are located in the Williston, St. George, Hinesburg, Huntington, Richmond and Starksboro areas. In addition, approximately 185 members in the Underhill area remain without power as well as some scattered individual outages. It is anticipated that power will be restored to the majority members by the end of the day on Sunday however, some individual outages may not have power until Monday. Several downed power lines and trees remain throughout VEC’s service territory. The Coop urges members to stay away from downed power lines and do not attempt to remove trees or limbs off the lines. They may still be energized and could cause serious injuries or even death. Call VEC to report downed lines at 1-800-832-2667.
