VEC Breaks Ground on New Enosburg Substation |
Published 12/09/2008 Johnson, VT – Vermont Electric Cooperative, Inc. (VEC) representatives and representatives from Enosburg Village, recently broke ground on a new transmission substation in Enosburg Falls. This substation is the first of many projects that will improve transmission reliability for all VEC members between Highgate and Newport.
The $1.3 substation project will also serve as a new electrical transmission connection to the Village of Enosburg. “VEC is excited to break ground on this project, as it is the first of many upgrades that will improve electric service to all of our VEC members between Highgate and Newport,” said VEC Chief Operating Officer Jeff Wright. “VEC’s long range capital improvement plan focuses on rebuilding our transmission and substation infrastructure over the next ten years and this project is our first step.”
The project is expected to be completed in April 2008. “I am extremely pleased to see the project started,” says Jonathan Elwell, Village Manager. “Several of our power outages in the past have been attributed to the condition of VEC’s transmission line. We are happy to be working with VEC on these upgrades as they will ultimately improve service to customers,” added Elwell.
