VEC Plans to Open Service Center in Williston

 Published 09/26/2006
Johnson, Vermont - At its regular meeting on September 26, 2006, the Vermont Electric Cooperative, Inc. (VEC) Board of Directors supported management’s decision to establish a new service center in Chittenden County.

Currently, VEC members in Chittenden County are served by line workers that travel from the Johnson headquarters when responding to outages and performing maintenance. The level of service quality that VEC is able to provide to these members will be enhanced greatly with the opening of this service center.

According to Dave Hallquist, CEO for VEC, “this is part of a larger plan to improve the reliability and outage response time to members in the Chittenden County service territory”.  Hallquist added, “We serve approximately 5,000 members in Chittenden County and it just makes sense that we have a local presence to serve them better”.

VEC will start recruiting line workers for the Chittenden Service Center in October, and is planning to begin operations out of this location in January of 2007.

VEC is the State’s third largest utility, serving approximately 37,000 members in some of Vermont’s most rural areas. VEC is headquartered in Johnson, and presently has service centers in Newport, Richford, Grand Isle and Wilmington.
