VEC and Vermont Public Service Board agree on revised rate increase |
Published 12.30.2010 Johnson, VT- Vermont Electric Cooperative, Inc. (VEC) announced today that the Vermont Public Service Board (VPSB) has approved VEC’s revised request for a 2.13 percent rate increase to go into effect January 1, 2011. In November, the Co-op filed a request for a 2.71 percent rate increase, but agreed with the Department of Public Service (DPS) to a rate settlement of a reduced amount.

High winds knock out power to over 11,000 VEC members |
Published 12.01.2010 Johnson, VT- High winds that began crossing through the western slopes of the Green Mountains around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday continue and have knocked out power to over 11,000 VEC members. Cambridge, Underhill and Jericho areas have been hit the hardest. In addition members from Hinesburg to Richford are also experiencing outages as a result of high winds, broken poles and downed power lines.

VEC Outage Restoration Nearly Complete |
Published 12.05.2010 5:00 p.m. Johnson, VT- At 5:00 p.m. approximately 135 Vermont Electric Cooperative (VEC) members remain without power in the wake of Wednesday’s damaging wind storm. At the peak, about 12,500 VEC members lost service due heavy damage to electric lines and more than 100 broken utility poles. Members in the areas of Underhill and Essex are currently affected. VEC expects to have these customers reconnected later this evening.

VEC Outage Restoration Continues |
Published 12.04.2010 5:15 p.m. Johnson, VT- At 5:00 p.m. approximately 1,700 Vermont Electric Cooperative (VEC) members remain without power in the wake of Wednesday’s wind storm. On the fourth day of this severe outage more than 300 utility personnel have been working to repair heavily damaged utility poles and electric lines.
